The following philosophy statement comprises the ideas and sentiments of myself
Marguerite Iona Brady, as your Director, tutor and friend, as well as all the members
of staff who are equally commmitted each students growth and development through
your training in African Reflexology.
We believe in the physical, psychological and social complexity of the human person
and the dignity, rights, respect and civil liberties that arise from being human.
We acknowledge the spiritual dimension of the person in whatever way that might
be expressed. I evoke the Christian tradition as a guiding light in my interpretation
of the person while respecting other traditions.
We recognise the need to empower, encourage and inspire each student who comes into
our School and training programmes, to have the best possible quality of life by
providing the best possible quality of care, support, skills and personal growth
development.
We believe that each person who is training along side me is interdependent and
has a unique contribution to make through his/her personal and professional expertise.
In order to maintain this I, as founder of the Marguerite Brady School of African
Reflexology and Natural Medicine and our staff are committed to the initial and
ongoing education and development of each student, all in a space of mutual respect
and support.
We recognise the crucial role of the family network in influencing your training
and acknowledge their commitment to your onward education as well as the continued
support they will provide during the next 14 months. We believe that Reflexology
and its therapeutic uses imply a partnership and a journeying with people in their
search for support, for meaning, for acceptance and for healing. I encourage you
to utilise your skills to address the needs of the individual, the family and community
in a therapeutic and supportive way. At all times I ask you to act from a background
of knowledge, empathy and mutual respect.
We want you to become aware of the individuals beauty, majesty and sacredness. You
need to put down your personal baggage, your past and future, all your knowledge
and JUST BE AWARE. Otherwise you will see but not see, hear but not hear, be present
but are not present - your TOTAL PRESENCE and OPENNESS is required. It is not about
bringing up, it is about bring OUT what the person needs to come to terms with and
release. It is going beyond the external form of something, to that sacred space
within them that cannot be named, something ineffable, the deep inner HOLY essence
of the person's mind, body and soul. Whenever or wherever there is beauty - this
inner essence shines through somehow. It only reveals itself to you though when
you are PRESENT AND AWARE.
Be compassionate, for compassion is knowingness that there is a bond between you
and another human being. Be Patient, Tender, Tolerant, Loving, Forgiving, towards
yourself and others. Remember WE ARE ALL ONE AND THE SAME. Live life to the full,
enjoy every moment, be grateful for all that is and commit to bring blessings and
love to every one you meet. And don't forget to smile!!! Remember non judgemental
listening is the key to healing both inwardly and outwardly.
Love and Light…Marguerite Iona Brady and staff of the ever expanding MIB School
